We’re deeply saddened by the passing of Edmund Leung, one of the most distinctive voices and spirits of Hong Kong’s 90s indie rock scene. As a founding member of …HUH!?, Edmund helped shape a generation of alternative music in Hong Kong, balancing raw edge with genuine heart.
Over the years, Edmund’s creative journey never stopped. From producing records and founding A Asterisk Music, to releasing his solo album Yes… Music for Felines (2004), performing with Mini Noise, The Interzone Collective, and, most recently , 小兵樂隊, he remained a fearless experimenter — a true artist who lived and breathed music.
We at BRG also remember Edmund as a kind and gentle soul. I got to know him at Underground shows, where he was always friendly, welcoming, and genuinely interested in the people around him. He would take the time to ask how you were doing and what was happening in your life. Watching …HUH!? perform, I was always struck by how Edmund invited the audience to be part of the show — that openness and warmth stayed with him everywhere he went.
His creativity, kindness, and love for independent music touched so many of us. Thank you, Edmund, for your music, your spirit, and the sincerity you brought to our scene. You will be greatly missed, but never forgotten.
