Late in the previous year, it was reported that the forthcoming expansion of Destiny 2, The Final Shape, was experiencing delays due to difficulties and layoffs at Bungie. The expansion, initially planned for a February release, was officially postponed until June, resulting in a considerable gap of time between last year’s expansion and the eventual conclusion of Destiny 2’s ongoing storyline. Bungie has scheduled a pseudo-season of content, entitled Destiny 2: Into the Light, to address this gap, which will launch on April 9 and introduce new maps, modes, and weapons. The weapons in Into the Light are of particular note because they constitute what Bungie has called the “BRAVE arsenal”: a collection of treasured older weapons that have been reinvigorated and improved for the current state of the game. Despite the fact that Bungie announced that it would release only half of the BRAVE arsenal at launch, fans of the game were eagerly anticipating the new content. Earlier accessibility to the complete arsenal would enable players to grind them in Into the Light’s new PvE Onslaught mode and obtain special variations only available for a limited time. On Bungie’s initial schedule, this time would be cut dramatically short. The Destiny 2 Team Twitter account responded to fans’ concerns and announced that Bungie would be adjusting the intended weapon rollout, cutting the six-week schedule to three weeks, which means Bungie will be introducing two weapons per week after launch. On this timeline, players will now be able to obtain the entire BRAVE arsenal by the conclusion of April, reducing the “timegating” that many players are calling out while still allowing players to acquire the desired weapons.
