Unraveling the Mysteries of Dragon's Dogma 2
Dragon’s Dogma 2, the latest high-fantasy RPG from Capcom, is packed with numerous engaging side quests that require players to think critically and channel their inner Sherlock Holmes. Among these quests is “Prey for the Pack,” which presents a challenge that demands a bit of cunning and problem-solving. Fear not, as we have a quick guide to help you complete this mission successfully.
To initiate “Prey for the Pack,” make your way to Checkpoint Rest Town, a small village located southwest of Vernworth. While it may be quite a journey, the rewards in terms of gold and XP make it worthwhile. If you’re in a rush, you can take an oxcart from Vernworth’s westside station to reach your destination swiftly. Upon arriving at Checkpoint Rest Town, visit Morris’s Apothecary in the middle of the village. This will trigger a conversation with Morris, who pleads for your assistance in finding his kidnapped grandson, Rodge, who has fallen victim to a hungry wolf pack. Time is of the essence in Dragon’s Dogma 2, so failure to rescue Rodge promptly will result in a tragic outcome.
After speaking with Morris and vowing to find Rodge before he becomes wolf food, your next task is to gather information about his whereabouts. Seek out Alsa, a young woman, and Timothy, a young man, both of whom may have crucial details. However, to progress to the next stage of the quest, it’s essential to talk to Jacint, an elderly lady located near the oxcart station on the north side of Checkpoint Rest Town. All three villagers will mention Rodge’s fondness for flowers, with Jacint specifically mentioning a “beautiful flowerbed” on the outskirts of town. Head east, as if you’re returning to Vernworth, to find the flowerbed.
Once you leave the village, follow the main road while keeping an eye out for blue flowerbeds that mark your path. Feel free to pick the flowers as you go. Cross narrow bridges, pass through short tunnels, and ignore any campsites along the way. Remember, time is against you. Stay on the path, watching out for both the blue flowerbeds and the wolves lurking in the area, until you reach the Putrid Cave—where Rodge has been taken.
Inside the Putrid Cave, you’ll find Rodge cowering against a wall, surrounded by menacing wolves. Your objective is straightforward: eliminate the wolves and save Rodge. Once the wolves have met their demise and your blades are stained with their blood, speak to Rodge. Your new task is to safely escort him back to Checkpoint Rest Town. Unfortunately, there is no oxcart available, so you’ll have to travel on foot. Keep a close eye on Rodge, as he may fall behind or get lost. Maintain proximity to him throughout the journey. When you finally arrive back in the village, take Rodge to his grandfather, Morris, at the Apothecary. Engage in dialogue, and voila! The quest is complete. Enjoy the spoils: two Miracle Roborant healing items, 11,000 gold, and 4,000 experience points that will likely level up both you and your Pawn. Well done!
Some players have suggested that completing the quest at night makes it easier, as the blue flowerbeds glow in the darkness. During my preview of Dragon’s Dogma 2, I completed the quest under the daylight sky, and it is entirely feasible to accomplish it during either day or night. If I were to do it again, I might opt for nighttime to take advantage of additional opportunities for grinding XP, thanks to the formidable creatures that emerge after sundown. However, journeying during the daytime is less perilous. Regardless of your choice, “Prey for the Pack” becomes a relatively straightforward quest once you know what to look for. Best of luck, Arisen, and may success be yours on your adventures.
