And How To Get It
Destiny 2 players have been flocking back to the game thanks to the introduction of a new horde mode called Onslaught. The recent free Into The Light update has also been providing players with plenty of loot, leading to an increased interest in acquiring the latest top gear. One highly sought-after weapon is the legendary rocket launcher called Apex Predator, which is considered by many as the best in its class.
Apex Predator initially appeared in Destiny 2’s Last Wish raid, and it remains a top-tier rocket launcher due to its unique perks like Reconstruction and Bait and Switch. Reconstruction gradually increases reload speed over time, while Bait and Switch provides a damage boost after firing all weapons successively. Additionally, the weapon offers useful perks such as Bipod, which increases ammo capacity, and Explosive Light, which enhances damage and blast radius after picking up an orb of light.
The good news is that obtaining Apex Predator is relatively straightforward. It can drop from any encounter in the Last Wish raid, allowing players to repeatedly face the first boss, Kalli, until the rocket launcher finally drops. Destiny 2 YouTuber Datto provides a quick guide on completing the Kalli encounter for those who need assistance.
Alternatively, players have the option to craft Apex Predator. Unlocking the craftable frame requires collecting five deep-sight versions of the weapon, which have red borders. This process may take longer, but it allows players to level up the solar rocket launcher and equip enhanced versions of its perks, further boosting its stats. Additionally, participating in the recently added Riven Wishes quests provides weekly tokens that grant a chance to earn a randomly rolled Apex Predator.
For those who prefer a simpler option, Hothead is another decent rocket launcher that doesn’t require raiding. It can be obtained directly from Zavala in The Tower by trading three Vanguard Engrams and 25,000 Glimmer. The ideal roll for Hothead includes perks like Auto-Loading Holster, Explosive Light, Demolitionist, Clown Cartridge, Field Prep, or Vorpal Weapon.
While Hothead is a viable choice, players looking to prepare for Destiny 2’s upcoming expansion, The Final Shape, may want to pursue Apex Predator. It will serve as a powerful raid weapon on day one and prove useful throughout the challenging main campaign of the expansion, set to release on June 4.
