Leaked Rockstar Files
A significant cache of previously leaked Rockstar files has emerged, providing gamers with fresh insights into Grand Theft Auto 5’s canceled content. This includes an ambitious Liberty City expansion and the long-rumored Agent Trevor DLC. The files, totaling around 192GB, far exceed the 4GB of GTA 5 source code material that surfaced earlier in 2023. Notably, GTA modder TJGM has been sifting through these files, uncovering a treasure trove of cut dialogue, canceled missions, and development tools.
Liberty City Expansion
Among the most intriguing revelations is the outline of the Liberty City expansion that Rockstar had envisioned for GTA 5 but ultimately scrapped. TJGM reconstructed the map using shoreline data found within the files. This new map appears significantly larger than the Liberty City featured in GTA 4. “The outline of this map is drawn based on where shorelines are,” TJGM explained, indicating that the files also include zones associated with shoreline audio. This discovery paints a clearer picture of Rockstar’s ambitious plans to integrate Liberty City into GTA 5.

Another file suggests that Rockstar had begun developing additional terrain for this expansion. The presence of the map outline and audio zones indicates that development may have progressed further than previously thought. While the existence of Liberty City content was known from the 2023 source-code leak, these new materials provide a more comprehensive understanding of its intended scale. Speculation arises that Rockstar’s plans for Liberty City could be revived for GTA 6, although this remains unconfirmed.
Agent Trevor DLC
The leak also sheds light on another canceled project: the Agent Trevor DLC. This expansion was set to feature Trevor as a secret agent but was ultimately scrapped due to the growing popularity of GTA Online. The new files reveal interior screenshots intended for the expansion, including a lavish mansion. Additionally, they contain mission names, descriptions for the canceled single-player content, and details about the music that would have accompanied these missions.
Not all discoveries pertain to canceled expansions. TJGM has also shared early dialogue from GTA 5, including an alternate version of a scene involving Michael and Tracey from the mission “Friend Request.” In this unused version, Tracey watches a fictional TV show called “Jersey Jews,” diverging from the Fame or Shame content that made it into the final game.

Implications for GTA 6
The conversation inevitably turns to GTA 6, with TJGM claiming that the new files contain low-quality screenshots of the upcoming game’s map. This revelation is not surprising, considering the files stem from the broader Rockstar breach in 2022, during which a vast amount of development data was compromised. Reports indicated that both GTA 5’s source code and early GTA 6 material were included in the breach.
GTA 5 has become one of Rockstar’s most supported titles, yet much of the post-launch focus shifted to GTA Online rather than the substantial single-player DLC that fans anticipated. The resurfaced source code material offers a glimpse into what could have been, reigniting interest in the single-player experience.
As the GTA 6 release date approaches, these discoveries become increasingly relevant. More than a decade after its initial launch, Rockstar’s old development files continue to unveil aspects of the game that were never meant to see the light of day. The gaming community eagerly awaits what these revelations might mean for the future of the franchise.
