 Nicki Minaj is legitimately upset.
Despite ten nominations, Nicki Minaj again misses the chance to win a Grammy. That said, she is in good company as many other famous Artists have been nominated and not yet one. Katty Perry – 13 times, Bjork 16 times, Snoop Dogg -19 times.
How do these two differ?
There is some question this year whether the apparent snub was deliberate after Nicki widely criticised the Grammy’s for moving her recent No 1 Hit, Super Freaky Girl, from the Rap section into the Pop section for members to vote on. In fairness, Minaj said she was OK with the move as long as all entrants were treated fairly. She contended that if she was classified as Pop for her song, then surely others with a very similar sound and style, of song, should be too. The example she suggested was Big Energy by Latto. You can listen to both songs here and make your own decision. However, after listening to both back to back, it’s hard to question her logic. So far, the Grammys have not explained how they differentiated between the two, nor are they likely to. Either way, Nicki is missing out again.

Despite the controversy, the outcome is unlikely to make any difference to her loyal and vast fan base.
