What was the writing process like for “Ojos Rojos” compared to your past work?
This song came from a songwriting camp and this kid “Ebarco” and it was just magic. When the beat started, we put some lyrics and melodies on top of it and we loved it right away. As soon as we hear the hook, we knew right away that this was going to be a hit.
Latin pop is still a new genre in Asia. Would you like to come over to Asia?
No, I haven’t been to Asia but I would love to. Of course, I would love to go and how it is like over there.
You’ve had your fair share of life throwing obstacles, if you can go back in time, would you change anything?
I am who I am today because of what happened in the past. Very proud of my past. Thanks to that past I have a testimony to young kids today. You know talk to them and make them understand that no matter where you come from, no matter how hard it is, you can make it. I mean, who better to tell you that then someone who has actually gone through this much.
What role do your kids play in your life? And how do you balance your music life with that of being a dad?
My kids are everything in my life. Everything I do I want them to be proud of their dad. I just want my kids to be happy. I use them as well as A&R executives, ask them for feedback on my music. Sometimes they write back, sometimes they don’t. What matters is that we are a family and that we help each other
Any advice for any musicians starting out right now?
Take it step by step. Enjoy what you do. That will be the energy that you will give to other people. That’s how you build a good fanbase and good engagement.
What does the rest of 2022 look like for you? And what can we expect?
2022 is going to be huge. My new album is coming out. Couple of singles coming out. Couple of movies. I’m just going to be all over the place. I’m not stopping.
