HOW ITS BOUNTIES WORK
Bungie has made it clear that Destiny 2’s upcoming expansion, The Final Shape, is a significant milestone in the game’s history. Not only does it mark the conclusion of a 10-year story that began with Destiny in 2014, but it also ushers in a new era for the game. The expansion brings about substantial changes, including a revamp of classes and perks, a new content model, rectifying past controversial decisions, and overhauling various systems that have accumulated over the years. Recently, Bungie announced that the game’s bounty system will undergo a massive overhaul with the launch of The Final Shape next month.
According to a series of tweets from the Destiny 2 team account, bounties tied to ritual activities such as Crucible, Vanguard, and Gambit playlists will be replaced by a new rewards system called the Ritual Pathfinder. Instead of obtaining bounties from different characters scattered around the Tower, the game’s main hub, players will now have a unified system with a single vendor. These bounties will contribute to weekly challenges that typically offer powerful gear as rewards. It’s important to note that vendors and challenges unrelated to the mentioned ritual activities, like Banshee-44 and their weapon-centric challenges, will remain unaffected by these changes.
Upon the release of The Final Shape, all existing ritual bounties will be automatically abandoned, which may come as a disappointment to players who enjoy preparing for new seasons and expansions by hoarding bounties. Many Destiny 2 players tend to accumulate bounties and save them for later to quickly level up their battle passes or progress through new level caps when a new expansion or season begins.
Bungie seems to be aware that players were stockpiling bounties in anticipation of The Final Shape, and they decided to inform the community in advance about the changes to the bounty system. This way, players can adjust their priorities and focus on other in-game activities instead of grinding ritual activity bounties leading up to June 4. For example, they can concentrate on acquiring holographic versions of the BRAVE arsenal in Destiny 2’s new horde mode.
In summary, Bungie’s upcoming expansion, The Final Shape, is set to bring significant changes to Destiny 2. The bounty system tied to ritual activities will be replaced by the Ritual Pathfinder, streamlining the process and offering a unified system. Existing ritual bounties will be abandoned upon the expansion’s release, prompting players to adjust their gameplay strategies. By providing this information in advance, Bungie allows players to focus on other in-game endeavors, such as pursuing holographic versions of the BRAVE arsenal in the new horde mode.
