The Latest Release from Lady Gaga and “Joker: Folie à Deux”
Lady Gaga’s latest artistic endeavour intertwines her musical talents with her role as Harley Quinn in the highly anticipated film “Joker: Folie à Deux”. This sequel to the 2019 blockbuster ‘Joker’ sees Gaga stepping into the shoes of Harley Quinn, a character she describes as deeply personal and transformative.
Starting with a strong guitar riff, the drums begin to pound while GaGga’s distinctive voice sings to us there is always a Joker and how everyone laughs at them, but they don’t see his lonely heartbreak – except she does. The bass takes us on an acoustic journey, twisting and turning like the Koker. Then we are back to the ‘storyline’ about how Harlequin won’t be lonely as long as the Wildman Joker is there. The Song reaches its crescendo as we learn, “The Joker is Me.” On listening, I can see why there have been some comments about the movie almost being a musical. Lady GaGa’s powerful voice and cutting lyrics deliver a powerful song that gets better each time you hear it. It’s easy to understand why Lady GaGa said she got deeply into her character in the movie (see below), as she sounds like she is singing the story of the song from a very personal perspective.

It helped her capture the chaotic yet romantic essence of Harley Quinn’s relationship with Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker. Tracks like “Oh, the Saints” and “That’s Life” reflect themes of love intertwined with madness, mirroring the film’s narrative.
