Post Malone releases first track of 2023

Post Malone, the multi-platinum artist best known for his hits such as “Sunflower” and “Circles” released his first single of 2023, titled “Chemical”, which is only now beginning to generate some interest. The song opens up with a riff that instantly drew me in, a catchy tune about an on-and-off again relationship.Â
Sadly, it seemed that the remainder of the song lacked the same energy that initially caught my attention, leaving the song feeling underdeveloped. While Post Malone’s signature production style is definitely present, the lyrics failed to leave a lasting impression. The track seems to be missing a certain spark that would elevate “Chemical” to the level of Post Malone’s previous hits.Â
Despite its flaws, ‘Chemical’ currently has some positives too. Though the lyrics lack a certain amount of depth, Post Malone’s delivery demonstrates the control he has over his voice. The guitar work is noteworthy, with the riff serving as a memorable opening to the song and for me the best part of the track. However, the song fails to build to a satisfying climax or chorus, not really seeming to go anywhere.Â
Overall, “Chemical” is a decent addition to Post Malone’s catalogue, but it falls short of his usual standard. While the song has some catchy moments, it lacks the substance and depth of his previous hits. With more attention to the song’s production and lyrics, it could have been so much more.Â
Die-hard fans will likely enjoy the song, but others may find it underwhelming.
